Bay Area Daylily Bud Activities for 2008!

 All people are welcome to attend the B.A.D. Buds Club meetings.  No admission fee is charged to attend the Club meetings or the annual daylily sale.  

February 2, 1:00 P.M., Green Bay Botanical Garden: 

Group meeting with Phil Korth presenting on a spring trip to Florida's daylily Mecca.  Nate Bremer will follow with a presentation entitled 'Awakening the Dormant Genes'.

March 28, 6:00 P.M., Green Bay Botanical Garden:  

Group meeting with featured speaker Bob Scott.  Bob Scott hybridizes daylilies and runs a nursery business.  His 'Topguns' Hemerocallis introductions are becoming well know throughout the U.S.

March 29, 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Green Bay Botanical Garden:  

Northern Hybridizer's Workshop.   Those interested in attending please contact Phil Korth

 May 8, 6:00 P.M., Green Bay Botanical Garden 

Bay Area Daylily Buds daylily auction and perennial exchange for all interested gardeners.  If you are looking for some interesting spring plantings, this is for you!  The membership 'Adopt-a-Plant' program will also distribute this year's newer daylily cultivars at this meeting.  You must be in attendance to take home an 'Adopt-a-Plant', so mark your calenders-there are sure to be some gems!

August 3, 3:00 P.M. Dennis Patri's Mountain Lake Nursery in Manawa  

This year the annual summer picnic will be held at Dennis Patri's Nursery.  Participants will get a walk through tour of the nursery.   Mountain Lake Nursery is in it 25th year!  Come and enjoy the food, discussion and fellowship of gardening.

 

September 6, 9 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.,  Green Bay Botanical Garden

Bay Area Daylily Buds will be presenting their annual daylily sale.  Many great daylilies and perennials will be available at very reasonable prices.

 

November 15, 1:00 P.M., Green Bay Botanical Garden  

Annual luncheon and business Meeting of the Bay Area Daylily Buds.  A noted daylily speaker will then follow at approximately 2:00 P.M.


Bad Bud Activities in a 'nutshell'.

Annual Club Plant Auction (May Meeting):  Date to be announced, at the Green Bay Botanical Garden.  Come early and look over the possibilities.  

Annual Club Adopt-a-Plant program (May Meeting):  New cultivars are purchased by the club yearly and raffled to members.  These plants are grown in member gardens for a year or two and then divided for auction or donation.  The recipient of the plant may grow and enjoy the plant, but may not set pods on it and will be allowed to keep one fan to grow on for there own. 

Speaker programs given at club meetings:  Hybridizers, growers, gardeners, travelers, and specialists.    Speaker(s) for February, April and November to be announced.

Spring slide program of club members' gardens and flowers:  Favorite plants, gardens, and trips club members narrate.

Daylily books, catalogs, articles, and information available through club library.

Member generated discussions and programs:  Including, dividing daylilies, hybridizing, transplanting, growing seedlings, fertilizing, plant habits and hardiness, propagating, decorating, landscaping, information and cultivar performance, and disease and pest problems discussions and demonstrations.

Annual Club Daylily Plant Sale (September):  Hundreds of cultivars from members' gardens and GBBG/B.A.D. Buds display beds.

Annual Club Business Meeting (November Meeting):   At the Green Bay Botanical Garden.  Officer elections, planning for the coming year, featured speaker and social.
