Activities

Bad Bud Activities in a 'nutshell'.

  • Member winter slide program (January/February meeting):  Club members present slides of their gardens or ones that they have visited.

  • Speaker programs (March/April and November meetings and sometimes the January/February meeting):  Hybridizers, growers, gardeners, travelers, and specialists. 

  • Annual Club Plant Auction (May Meeting):  Come early and look over the many possibilities.  Opportunities to obtain daylilies at nearly 50% off.

  • Annual Club Adopt-a-Daylily Program (May Meeting):  New cultivars are purchased by the club yearly and raffled to members.  These plants are grown in member gardens for two to three years and then divided.  The club member keeps a double fan and the excess is either sold at the annual auction or planted in the Green Bay Botanical Garden/B. A. D. Buds display beds.

  • Annual Club Garden Walk/Bus Trip (July): Visitation to members’ or regional gardens. 

  • Annual Club Chit Chat (July): Join us for a fun evening at a member’s home garden. 

  • Club Daylily Hybridizing Workshop (July):  A hand’s-on, in-the-garden introduction to the basics of hybridizing daylily cultivars.

  • Annual Club Garden Picnic (July/August):  Members visit gardens of and enjoy a potluck picnic hosted by a club member.

  • Annual Club Daylily Plant Sale (September):  Hundreds of cultivars from members' gardens and GBBG/B.A.D. Buds display beds.

  • Club Annual Luncheon and Business Meeting (November):  A luncheon followed by the election of the Board of Directors and planning for the coming year’s activities followed by a featured speaker.

April Meeting

Speaker:  Scott Reuss - University of Wisconsin Agriculture Agent.  He will be discussing how to manage our soils for the health of daylilies and the insects/diseases that attack our beloved daylily plants/flowers. Bring your questions and be prepared to help your plants grow to their best potential this summer.

Hands on Daylily Hybridizer Workshop

Dream of creating your own special daylily? Come join Jim and Sharon for a hands on daylily hybridizing workshop. You will use their daylilies for the workshop. If your hybridizing efforts are successful, Jim & Sharon will deliver the seeds to you. Contact Jim or Sharon to confirm and for more details.

Annual Sale

Our 23rannual sale will feature numerous cultivars: miniatures, small-flowered, large-flowered, doubles, spiders and unusual forms. Some are among the most popular in the upper Midwest. 
(Larry's is open for fall mum sale and has graciously offered to host our annual sale)
